Why Law for the People ?
For many years, we have been concerned about cuts to legal aid and law becoming a tool for the elite. This has become even more stark with the onset of Covid-19.
The challenge is that high quality legal advice comes at a cost, which is often out of reach for a large number of people. We have recently been undertaking a lot of work without charge.
Using a free legal help phoneline can be a useful starting point but to respond to a complex dispute that may have been lasting for months often requires a significant amount of time. Often legal correspondence such as this can cost thousands of pounds in legal fees for solicitors and barristers.
Although our lawyers work at a reduced rate, we cannot function without your donations. There is a vast need for free, high quality, legal services but at present we can only manage one case a month without charge and have a waiting list.

In England Justice is open to all, like the Ritz Hotel.
Peace does not just mean putting an end to violence or war, but to all other factors that threaten peace, such as discrimination, such as inequality, poverty.
We are way more powerful when we turn to each other and not on each other, when we celebrate our diversity… and together tear down the mighty walls of injustice.
